You can now get the new OrangeQC app for Android from the Google Play store!
This is more than just an update. Over the past year, we built a completely new app from the ground up. It’s fast, reliable, and smooth.
Don’t worry. We’ve kept things simple. There’s no learning curve. The app works just like you expect the existing Android app to function… but better.

How to get the new Android app
Click here to download the new app from the Google Play store. (Make sure you’ve updated to Android 13 or it won’t show up.)
When you launch the app for the first time, you’ll need to log in and allow permissions for location services. After that, you’ll be ready to go. All of your account information will transfer seamlessly.
Why a new app?
Best practices change over the years in any industry. In software development, that happens even faster with new devices, operating systems, and tech capabilities.
As we worked to keep the Android app updated and bring in new features, we were fighting the old code at every turn. And despite our best efforts, the Android app experience wasn’t as good as the iOS experience.
So we decided to start from the beginning.
The new app is built with the Kotlin framework to take full advantage of core Android technologies. It works better now and will be easier to update moving forward.
What’s different?
Most of the differences are behind the scenes. The app will run faster, be more reliable, and stay updated with the latest features. It’s also a closer match to our iOS app to simplify training if your team uses both types of devices.
You’ll also notice some updates to the app’s appearance for a cleaner look.
What’s not changing?
The way you use OrangeQC in your day-to-day work will be the same. All of the features are in the same places and work the same way.
We really want to emphasize this point, because many of us have had bad experiences with app “upgrades” that break our existing workflows. (Ask our CEO, Matt, about the time his parent’s accounting business had to deal with an update to their tax software that broke everything… in the middle of tax season.)
New Android App FAQ
How do I get started?
Make sure you’re running Android 13 or higher, then download the new app from the Google Play store. Note that this is a new listing; our previous app now appears as “OrangeQC Legacy” in the Play store.
Then, just log in and keep using OrangeQC as usual!
What makes you feel confident about this new app?
We’ve taken our time with this rebuild to get it right. In our tests, it’s outperforming the old app in terms of speed and reliability.
We’ve also been working with a team of beta testers. These real OrangeQC power users have been testing the new app with their teams, giving us feedback and helping us make sure the app is ready to work in the real world. The beta team has given us great feedback, and we’re excited to get the app into more hands.
What if I’m not ready to switch?
We understand that making a software change that affects your team’s operations can feel risky. We’re not removing the existing app, and it will continue to work as your team switches over at your own pace. That said, we will only be supporting the new version of the application and encourage all users to upgrade before the end of the year.
